Chapter 11
Gone Too Soon?
July 6th, 1992
Monday, 11:56 AM
Nicole, Shauna, and Sasha were sitting in Michael's room at his house. Jackie, Jermaine, and La Toya came over earlier to help clean up the sheets and anything else that had been broken. They all sat on his bed, prepared to go to the hospital to see their beloved friend in critical condition. Mark walked in the room and told them, "We are all ready to go." There was a small sound of thunder, it was very dreary that day. As if mother nature knew something was wrong.
The girls got up and walked towards the door to Jason. He asked them," Are you three alright?" Shauna shook her head no, Nicole remained silent, and Sasha just shrugged her shoulders. Mark hugged them all one at a time, and they left out the door, getting into Michael's car.
On the way there, it had officially started to rain. All of the fans that were still there, had gone and brought back their umbrellas. Getting close enough to where they could actually see Mark in the car, they made way for him to park, no need to make a fuss about it. Everyone got out of the car and walked under the umbrella Mark was holding, to the main entrance. The woman at the front desk looked up at them.
" Yes?" she questioned. Mark took out a card, showing it to her," Mark Watson. Michael Jackson's bodyguard. Permission to go see him, ma'am?" he asked ever so politely. She leaned her head over to the side slightly to look behind him at the girls. He noticed that.
" They're with me." he told her.
" Okay. Second floor, room 232." Mark nudged them to the elevator. The way up to the second floor was kind of an uneasy set for them. Then the light came on, sounding of a ding, the doors parted. They stepped out.

Michael was laying down, hooked up to an IV machine and air mask. He wasn't in a coma, not anymore anyway, he had woke up hours ago, yet he was a bit unresponsive. These images kept coming to his head, mind replaying what happened last night. The only thing he really remember was being stabbed and the crucial pain spreading through out his body. His stomach was wrapped in bandages from his shoulder and back. But it was still bloody, you could see it.
Half conscious, he still could hear a click. It was the door being open. He stayed completely still. Even in the state he's in, he was cautious. Mark and the girls walked over to him, and he motioned his finger to let them know not to be loud around him. They thought he was sleep, but he wasn't. Nicole and Shauna sat down on the couch near the window, Sasha walked up to Michael and looked down at him.
Mark's phone began to ring... He answered it," Hello?" and stepped outside the room. Nicole and Shauna stared at Michael from where they were at, then Shauna looked outside the window, gazing down at his fans. Sasha reached her hand out and gently touched his forehead. He slowly opened his eyes half way.
" Michael?" she said out loud. After a few seconds, his eyes had opened all the way, panic filled them. Sasha moved back from him, to Nicole and Shauna. The heart monitor started to beep faster...louder, he was trying to move his free arm up, eyes still on his friend. See, to him, the high medication is making him hallucinate, in his eyes, Sasha looked like Jasmine. He thought she came back to kill him off. It frightened him. He finally pulled his oxygen mask off, and threw it on the floor, angrily. The moving was making his wound reopen slowly, but he ignored it, anything to protect his life.
This strange behavior was bringing concern to the girls, Nicole called out to Mark, as Michael was maneuvering towards them, like he was going to attack or something. Then he came into the room with two nurses running in behind him.
" Hold him down please." one of them said calmly. Mark pushed Michael back down onto the bed, holding onto him. Michael managed out," Jasmine... she's.."
" Not going to hurt you anymore, Michael." Mark cut him off. One of the nurses took out the syringe she was holding, containing sleeping medicine, and stuck it into his arm. After a couple minutes later, Michael had calmed down and went into a deep sleep.
___________
Several Hours Later
It was dark outside, night time. The girls were spending the night with Michael at the hospital. There was big crack of thunder, waking Michael up. His eyes opened instantly to seeing nothing but darkness. There was a flashing light near the door that gave off a green hue every time it blinked. Michael had a bit more energy than from last time, so he took off his oxygen mask and gently let it fall to the floor out of his hand. Carefully, he rose up, grunting at the pulling of the tubes connected from his arms to the IV bag.
He got up from the bed, held his breath, and ripped the tube out of his other arm. The heart monitor went into a straight line on the screen. Trying to walk, Michael stumbled up against the wall, legs feeling kind of numb from all of the medication and for sleeping so long. He stood, back against the wall, breathing heavily. The flashing green light flickered on his face. The air from the AC unit brought chills down his back. He stared back at where the girls slept.
....
Walking down the hallway of the quiet hospital, Michael eventually made his way to the main entrance. He walked out into the darkness of the rain, making sure no one saw him. He walked out further from the hospital, then the pain set in. His wound was bleeding again and in desperate need of changing of the bandages. He was already in the parking lot, he leaned up against a car. Michael looked up into the sky, the bitterness of the rain beat against his face, drenching his hair. He tried to move on, but no, he was beginning to feel light headed.
Deciding that it was a bad idea to leave, he turned to go back into the hospital. Half way there, the pain began to numb him completely, he was starting to black out. Suddenly someone grabbed onto him.
" Let's take you back to your room... Michael." an unfamiliar voice whispered into his ear, unless he knew of this voice but was not in focus at all. They made it back just in time before he finally passed out on his bed.
